Design Fundamentals

Furniture. Go neutral, go texture, go nature! Focus on either on a light palette using light oak pieces with textured rattan or go bold by contrasting dark stained wood furniture with light blonde timber trims or light rattan features.

Lighting. Create soft lighting features in the living room space by using a combination of floor, wall and ceiling lighting. Let light spread into the room softly by using diffused bulbs. Bring back the quality of natural finishes such as using oxidised metal table lamps.

Decor. An important part of any interior are home accessories. We love using textured neutral toned rugs, dark contrasting objets, plants, raw wood decor items, and also bring into play some salvaged items from any good local market!

Components

Lounge Chairs. Using comfy laid back loungers and soft armchairs is a big win. Lounge chairs look great on their own in a corner of the room. Try draping over them some linen throws and textured cushions for an added feature.

Textured Raw Materials. Natural woods and metals are the key here. Look for woods which have a raw textured feel to them or even weathered metals. Great for the bigger items such as coffee tables, storage units and dining tables.

Soft Fabrics & Linens. Break up hard surfaces by using fabrics. Sofas, armchairs, throws, wall coverings and rugs are the way to go. Rugs with texture are always a great start, play with patterned cushions and we suggest going neutral with colour selections for the larger items such as sofas so they don't become too dominant in the living room space.
