Papillon | Lamp
The lamp is designed by Copenhagen based designers Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl, who found inspiration in Mathieu Matégots way of working with sheet metal in soft and organic ways. Through experiments with mask size, light filtration and illumination, the designers chose to work with a fine mask perforated sheet metal. The characteristic lens shape adds an organic quality to the hard metal surface, while optimising light diffusion.
Papillion refers to the French word for butterflies “Papillion”, which poetically alludes the floating lampshades as the lamps focal point. Papillion comes in tree variations; Brass with perforated lampshades, Oxidized with opaque glass lampshades and French rattan, colonial.
